Memorial Day is an opportunity to pay homage to those who have served beforeus and have given the ultimate sacrifice. It's also a time to reconnect with our past and reflect on our history. Too often the word "memorial" loses its meaning in our busy society. The summer holiday often becomes a day for picnics, ball games, and barbeques.
Those celebrations are important, and those who have fought and died for our country did so that we would have those very freedoms. We need to continually remind ourselves how fortunate we are to live in a country that is free. Please take some time this Memorial Day to reconnect with your community. Celebrate this day by remembering a relative, a neighbor, or a friend who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Celebrate this day by thanking a veteran or a veteran's family for the contributions they've made. Celebrate this day by being thankful for our freedoms because "Freedom is not Free". Take care and have a safe Memorial Day.
