Col Todd D. Pierce is the Vice Wing Commander, 132d Wing, Des Moines Air National Guard Base, Iowa. The 132d Vice Commander is responsible for the wing staff and providing support to the Wing Commander.
A graduate of the University of Iowa, Col Pierce began his career in 1996 enlisting in the Iowa Air National Guard. He graduated from Basic Military Training in February 1997 as an Honor Graduate. After basic training he attended technical schools at Lackland AFB, Texas and Sheppard AFB, Texas to become an F-16 Flightline Avionics Technician. In 1998 he was selected to become a pilot with the 124th Fighter Squadron and received his commission from the Academy of Military Science. Col Pierce graduated from Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Texas in January 2001 and from F-16 RTU in November that same year with the Ohio Air National Guard in Springfield, Ohio. Col Pierce has held the following positions at the 132nd; Chief of Scheduling, Chief of Safety, Chief of Standardization and Evaluation and commander of the Distributed Training Operations Center. Prior to his current assignment, Col Pierce served as the commander of the 132d Operations Support Squadron.
Col Pierce is a Command Pilot with over 2,500 hours in the T-37, T-38, F-16, MQ-9, and RC-26 and has flown more than 650 combat hours in support of Operation NORTHERN WATCH, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation INHERENT RESOLVE and Operation COPPER DUNE.
