Des Moines, Iowa -- 15 Airmen of the 132d Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Group took time out of their day to volunteer at the Mid-Iowa Council Fred Maytag II Scout Center, October 18, 2019 in Des Moines, Iowa. The team performed landscape work for the Maytag Center in preparation for winter, removing old mulch, weeds, fabric and then covering the areas with new mulch.
“It looks great and was very timely as we had a regional training event here on Saturday where just under 100 people from surrounding states came,” said Dan Maier, Mid-Iowa Council Camp Director.
The Scout Center provided the material and tools for this event and the 132d ISRG provided the labor. The Maytag Center services the surrounding 20 counties, has 20 thousand users per year and the Mid-Iowa Council supports over 20 thousand scouts.
“Volunteering for the scouts is important to me because the boy scouts program does so much for the community and it is rewarding to be able to help them out when they need it,” said Airman 1st Class Teara Jones, 132d ISRG.
