If you hear me say it once, I will say it a thousand times; I am humbled to be your new commander. The 132nd Fighter Wing is known as one of the premier fighter units in the United States Air Force and it is due to your commitment to excellence and hard work. As we pass the guidon, I would like to thank Col. Hammond for his years of service to the Iowa Air National Guard and for leaving the Wing in great shape. He poured his heart and soul into this Wing and we are extremely grateful for his service. Thank you!

As we make the leadership transition, the Wing will have a safety down day and a Commander's call on the 27th of May. Wing Safety will kick off our 101 Critical Days of Summer Campaign and I will outline command expectations and philosophy. For those of you unable to attend, I will be sending out the briefing/talking points base wide to ensure everyone knows the game plan.

If you haven't heard yet, we have an Operational Readiness Inspection 1-6 October. This is our focus until the Inspector General leaves our base. I need everyone to accept their part in ensuring our Wing continues our history of excellence. Know your job and your wingman's job. It doesn't matter if you just returned from tech school or have been here for years. We all need to prepare to show the Inspectors what we are capable of doing. Do not bring it weak!

I will be dropping by different work areas over the next several months. Low threat, I just want to take the opportunity to thank you personally for the excellent job you do, day in and day out. I am looking forward to the challenges of command, but more importantly, the opportunity to command the finest men and women this nation has to offer. Thank you for all you do!
