Des Moines, Iowa -- Air Force officials selected the top 11 Air Force entertainers from 74 Airmen who gathered for the annual Air Force Worldwide Talent Search Jan. 17 through 25 at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The Air Force's top talents were chosen after nine days of auditions, rehearsals and interviews, which culminated in three nights of competition.

The best performer took home the "Roger" award for first place and the second place winner received the "Wilco" award. The winners of the worldwide talent contest were announced at an awards banquet at Lackland AFB Jan. 25.

1st place in the top technician category went to one of the 132nd Fighter Wing' s own, Tech. Sgt. Matthew Flowers, a munitions system craftsman. In addition to competing for worldwide talent search honors, the entertainers also auditioned for spots on the Tops In Blue roster, which Sergeant Flowers was selected. Tops In Blue is the premiere Air Force entertainment group made up of talented amateur performers selected for their entertainment abilities.

Sergeant Flowers joins the Tops In Blue as their lighting and technical director for the 2010 tour in March. He will return mid March 2011. This is the second time that Sergeant Flowers has toured with the group. While stationed a Kadina AFB, Japan, he was selected as the assistant lighting and technical director in 2003.
