Portraits of Valor: Iowa's Tuskegee Airmen
Robert Williams, a native of Ottumwa, Iowa, served with distinction with the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II winning several medals. He later wrote book of his experiences which later was turned into the 1995 HBO movie "Tuskegee Airmen." A model of Williams' plane "Duchess Arlene" now resides at the front gate of the 132d Wing in Des Moines, Iowa. (Courtesy Asset)
